Abke Haring’s final project at the Studio Herman Teirlinck marked her out as a promising writer and actor. Toneelhuis commissioned her to write a play for Jan Bijvoet, Koen van Kaam and Jorgen Cassier which resulted in Kortstond (Short-lived).
Kortstond is a play for two characters and a house. An empty house, as it turns out, because the most important character, the mother, is absent. Like her first work Nageslachtsfarce/Genocide, a monologue about mother and daughter, Kortstond is also about a relationship, this time between two sons and a mother.
