Dix heures et demie du soir en été is the story of Maria, a woman in crisis. A woman confronted by the end of a love affair and a crime passionnel. Director Bart Meuleman turns Marguerite Duras’ novel of the same name into a play which does not flinch from portraying this woman’s madness, despair and intoxication through drink.
Dix heures et demie du soir en été centres on Maria who is travelling with her husband, her best friend and daughter. The group is on its way from France to Madrid, when a terrific storm forces them to spend the night in a small Spanish town. A young Spaniard, Rodrigo Paestra, is being hunted down, having that day murdered his wife and her lover after finding them in bed together. In the sultry atmosphere after the storm Maria’s and Rodrigo’s paths cross…
