Atropa. Avenging peace, the final part of the Triptiek van de macht (The Triptych of Power), draws on the mother of all wars: the Trojan War.
Tom Lanoye and Guy Cassiers freely reworked the well-known Greek tragedies, concentrating on Agamemnon, the Greek commander-in-chief, and on the women who become his victims. In an unexpected and powerful new ending all these women confront Agamemnon with the ultimate collapse of his power. For Agamemnon's arguments Lanoye consulted the speeches of George W. Bush and Donald Rumsfeld : the logique de guerre is of all times.
Atropa was staged at the Avignon Festival 2008.
