The Belgian performing arts are the focus of the 2013 biennial World View Series in Taiwan and Toneelhuis is greatly honoured to have been invited to the festival. As well as Guy Cassiers, the programme features Lisbeth Gruwez, Jan Fabre/Troubleyn and Jan Lauwers/Needcompany. With this artistic choice the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center is looking to broaden the horizons of Taiwan’s theatre-going public and introduce them to a number of Belgium’s artistic visions. Touring internationally is prompted by Guy Cassiers’ desire to test out his work on other cultures and, conversely, to allow his own work to be ‘contaminated’ by other cultures. Toneelhuis regards the fact that it can add Taiwan, a country still not recognized by China, to Sunken Red’s performance schedule as a statement and an adventure.
